Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

New home. New life. New beginning. Love affairs can blossom in the most unlikely places . . .
When Kitty inherits Bluebell Lodge from her grandmother, a farm in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, it’s time for fresh air and a fresh start. Up to her elbows in chickens and ponies, Kitty soon realises there’s an awful lot to learn about farming. Still, at least the locals seem friendly, not least her handsome neighbour Tom…

But just as Kitty is beginning to find her feet, and the possibility of love, the discovery of a long-hidden diary, by a mysterious character called Violet changes everything. Who is Violet and what is her message for Kitty? As Kitty fills in the lost pieces of her family jigsaw and discovers some shocking revelations, will her countryside dream and blossoming relationship fall to pieces? When it comes to life in the country, nothing is ever quite as it seems …

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Can I just say how gorgeous and pretty this cover is?! A DREAM!!! It’s full of happiness, joy, energy and passion and so was the book.

I can’t believe that this is my first book by Christie Barlow, because I fell in love with her writing immediately.

The story obviously follows Kitty ;). She inherits Bluebell Lodge by her grandmother, a woman she never met and thought that she was dead. Well, life at Bluebell Lodge is unexpected and very different. It’s a chicken farm and Kitty has to learn new things and get used to a different lifestyle.
I was glad she had her friends through that. Jeannie, who also works at the farm, her brother Robin, Lucinda, the bakery owner and Tom, the handsome neighbour. The sparks between her and Tom are flying immediately, but it wasn’t so easy. Misunderstandings and other things make Kitty believe Tom is not interested.

The friendship between the characters was incredible, they were all there for each other and looking out for each other. Every single character had something special. They were all very relatable and well lined out. They were a fab bunch to follow around.

When Kitty finds a secret diary everything gets more mysterious and it all brings the story to a whole new level, one I wasn’t expecting at all. I love surprises like that in books, they make make being more hooked and interested. I just wanted to find out more about mysterious Violet and her connection to Kitty. The outcome is huge and has a pretty big impact on all their lives. Through all this Kitty had Tom’s support and love and that was wonderful to see. I think I found myself a new book boyfriend, because Tom is just amazing, so caring, sweet, sexy and much more.

Christie has created a beautiful story here, it’s light-hearted, sweet and full of passion. After a while a different aspect as added, which makes this book the perfect mixture. The mystery of the diary and snippets of the past reveal some shocking things. This book talks about family, friendship, love and much more, the setting is beautiful and the storyline is very exciting. I loved every single page of this book, Christie has a unique, fresh and very passionate voice.
