that invades her most intimate moments with John. Pressured to choose between
invasive medical procedures and abandoning John’s claim to the throne, the
couple feels trapped until a trip to Ethiopia shows them happy endings
sometimes arrive long after saying “I do.”

When Tegan contacted me about her debut novel I was
really excited! The blurb caught my attention immediately. And can I just say
how beautiful that cover is?! AMAZING!
The first chapter in this book is perfect. The way the
characters are introduced, the setting and Hatty and John’s first encounter. A
beginning can hardly be more gripping and engaging.
So, the story follows Hatty, she is a
reporter/journalist to be and does an internship as part of her studies. Her
boss wants her to cover the royals, so she sees herself going to all these
events. Instead of covering the events though, she spends more and more time
with the prince himself. They start dating. I think they had something special
from the start and I loved seeing their relationship develop.
You think dating a prince would be sweet and great all
the time, but they had to deal with his family from the start and for Hatty it
was a big change to adapt to that other kind of lifestyle. That showed how deep
and true her feelings for John were from the start. Also John came across
really caring and just wonderful, sometimes I even forgot he was a prince.
At the beginning their relationship developed in a
good pace, but then I felt it all happened really fast with engagement and
marriage. This was the only part of the story that bothered me a little bit, I
just kept on thinking that with the royals nowadays it wouldn’t be very
realistic. I still enjoyed seeing how they grew stringer as a couple. They
shared some very passionate and adorable moments.
With marriage came the pressure to produce an heir to
take the throne some day. This tested their love on a whole new level and with
John’s father being very difficult it didn’t get easier. Also John’s brother
Henri and his situation made it really hard on Hatty.
The story is full of twists, twists and surprises. It
makes you wonder of what’s going to happen next and you will probably just see
yourself routing for this wonderful couple, never knowing how strong their love
really is.
This story will definitely make you wanna dive into
this royal world for a while. Tegan has a really unique voice, she adds some
great, young, and fun comments in between, which give the story a fresh and
sparkly touch. It also made me relate to Hatty even more, because her thoughts
were so real, authentic and sometimes I thought exactly what she mentioned
right after.
A beautiful debut novel, that while make you smile,
cry and more. It’s full of passion, honesty, love and talks about a difficult
topic. I am really excited already for Tegan’s next novel.
