The blurb:
An irresistible,
feel-good romance, perfect for fans of Rosie Blake, Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey
Kelk.
First comes love. Then
comes family…
After a lifetime of kissing frogs, Roxie Pratt has given up
on finding her own fairytale romance. That is, until she meets her very own
Prince Charming, Mark Wright, and he sweeps Roxie off her feet!
So when Mark finally gets down on one knee and pops the question,
there’s only one thing left to do: meet the family! And when everything has
been picture-perfect so far, what could possibly go wrong…?
My Opinion:
*Book provided by the publisher in
exchange for an honest review*
I
always reach for a Portia MacIntosh book, when I0m in the mood for something
fun and exciting, because her writing is exactly that.
This
story follows Roxie Pratt, who is newly engaged to Mark and a talented writer. Being
engaged to Mark also means finally meeting his parents and family.
Well,
that’s when all the drama and trouble starts, because first of all, they don’t
know Mark is taking Roxie with him. By chance (or maybe not) his ex Bea is
there as well and a big snow storm leaves them all in the house for a few days.
Mark’s
family is very special. His dad might be gay, one of his sister’s boyfriend is
a pervert and then there is also some cheating going on (not with Mark and
Roxie though). The family and the way they all act with Roxie is really hard on
her and she slowly starts doubting her relationship with Mark, which is a pity,
because they are so awesome together.
They
had great chemistry from the start and I think they have a wonderful connection.
I love their scenes.
The
book is very funny, fresh, vivid and entertaining! At times certain things were
a bit too much for me, they just didn’t seem authentic anymore and I also questioned
some of the decisions the characters made. That’s the reason we I take away
half a point and give it a 4.5 rating. I got hooked immediately and fell in
love with Portia’s writing once again.
You might be wondering what this book is doing in my Christmas feature, well easy! It's set around the Christmas time!

Author Info:
Portia
MacIntosh has been 'making stuff up' for as long as she can remember - or so
she says. Whether it was blaming her siblings for that broken vase when she was
growing up, blagging her way backstage during her rock chick phase or, most
recently, whatever justification she can fabricate to explain away those
lunchtime cocktails, Portia just loves telling tales. After years working as a
music journalist, Portia decided it was time to use her powers for good and
started writing novels. Taking inspiration from her experiences on tour with
bands, the real struggle of dating in your twenties and just trying to survive
as an adult human female generally, Portia writes about what it's really like
for women who don't find this life stuff as easy as it seems.
