Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

Perfect Drink: Green tea latte with coconut milk and raw honey.

Perfect Fashion Icon: The Duchess of Cambridge. Always on point with her fashion, dressing appropriately for every occasion and not afraid to recycle things from her wardrobe, I truly admire her class and style.

Perfect Place: Seattle.

Perfect Activity for Relaxation: Yoga. I’m terrible at it, but I’m determined to perfect downward dog. Someday.

For Seattle blogger Payton James, life is all about trying to achieve perfection. Payton is determined to be her best self in all areas, and she refuses to rest until she achieves it.

However, an imperfect moment in a coffee shop completely changes Payton’s life. When her drink order gets switched by mistake, Payton finds herself face-to-face with a gorgeous British man named Brooks. Payton is instantly attracted to the witty stranger who is quick with his words—and has a beautiful smile.

Brooks is an exotic veterinarian with a huge passion for animals. Heartache in his past has led him to focusing on his career out of fear of getting hurt again. But there’s something about Payton that makes this vet want to know more about the bubbly blogger he has met via fate—and has him reconsidering his stance on love.

But will Brooks ever be free of his fears to truly open his heart? And will Payton’s drive for perfection cost her the one thing she loves most? Or will she learn to embrace imperfections?

And maybe perfect is the one thing Payton doesn’t want after all . . .

My Opinion:

Green Tea Latte To Go marks the start of another series by Aven Ellis. The series is called Life, Love and Lattes and this time there is no hockey involved. As a big hockey fan, that might seem disappointing, but it’s not. Aven gives her books another touch like this and this book is still fabulous, let me tell you why.

The story follows Payton James, Duchess Kate and Lifestyle blogger. She is a full time blogger and works as a concierge to earn enough money to make her blogs successful. That’s her life. Her family doesn’t approve, but she doesn’t care. It’s in a coffee shop, where she meets Brooks, their orders get mixed up.

I love the scene when they meet for the first time. The sparks between them fly immediately. The scene is funny, flirty and exciting.

Brooks is an exotic vet, half British, half American and he loves his black coffee. He has a big heart and loves animals. He is also very passionate about his job and that was difficult in the past. Can he get past that and commit to a relationship?!

I have to say that both characters are not really relatable for me and I don’t mean that in a bad way, it’s actually refreshing. Yes, I’m a blogger too, but that’s about it when it comes to similarities between me and Payton. She loves the outdoors and wants to make blogging her career. Brooks of course loves animals and the outdoors too, he is very attractive and everything, but I guess not really my type. What they both want in a relationship though is what made me relate to them and I think they have a lot of chemistry, which made this story a pleasure to read. I love the flirty and humorous banter between them and Aven has put that in to writing in a perfect way.

You also learn a lot about animals and exotic pets, it’s very interesting and bring this book on a new level. I love how much humour Aven has put in this book and there is still enough space for all the feelings and the emotions. We can read exactly what Payton is going through, it’s like being right next to her. The same goes with Brooks, he is thoughtful, vulnerable, passionate and much more.

Misunderstandings and dramas add some more excitement to this story and I really have to say I didn’t like Payton’s mom and dad, because they made things difficult for Payton, but she was strong! Brooks on the other hand supports Payton and also takes the next step. It was interesting to see how he doubted himself, but Payton really changed things in him.

I really adored how their relationship developed in this book, the storyline is beautiful and there were some magical moments for sure. Aven’s writing has it all: passion, love, humour, heart, sparks and much more. This book is an AMAZING start to this new series set in Seattle!!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!

About the Author

Aven Ellis has been writing fiction since she was sixteen. She studied communications at a large Midwestern university, and after graduation, Aven worked as a reporter for a community newspaper, followed by a stint at a public relations agency.
But writing about city council meetings and restaurant franchises was not as much fun as writing for young women trying to figure out their careers and potential boyfriends. So Aven got herself a job in television that allowed her to write at night. Connectivity is Aven’s debut novel; Waiting For Prince Harry and Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (New Adult romantic comedy) will be published next year.
Aven lives in Dallas with her family. When she is not writing, Aven enjoys shopping, cooking, connecting with friends on social media, and watching any show that features Gordon Ramsay.
