Valentine's Book Love with Aven Ellis

Valentine's Day Q&A with Aven Ellis

1.     Have you ever written a Valentine’s Day scene? If yes, tell us more about it.

Yes! In Connectivity, William and MK spend their first evening alone together in a chic hotel bar in Chicago, enjoying a bottle of wine in front of a fireplace. It’s still one of my favourite scenes I’ve ever written.

2.     What would your perfect Valentine’s Day date be?

Dinner for two at a nice restaurant with a bottle of wine.

3.     Your favourite couple in a book?

I really loved Jack and Emma in Sophie Kinsella’s Can You Keep A Secret?

4.     Your favourite kiss in a book?

I can’t really remember one I read-but I can say I just wrote a kiss for Dallas Demons #3, Breakout, that is my favourite one I’ve written so far.

5.     Your favourite TV/Film kiss?

Jack and Rose in Titanic. Best kiss EVER.

6.     Do you like Valentine’s Day?

      As a romance writer-of course I do!

7.     Your worst date ever?

Oh easy. I was set up once in college, with my good girlfriend swearing she found the perfect guy for me and we’d totally hit it off. Turned out to be the most awkward date of my life. The guy didn’t talk. At all. (I’m a talker.) And we had zero in common. No common likes. Or even mutual dislikes. It was a disaster.

8.     Your best date ever?

Dinner at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. That was fantastic!

9.     Your favourite romance movie?

The Holiday, Titanic, Just Like Heaven, and Return to Me. Love them all!

10. The best Valentine’s present you ever got?

      A bottle of Tiffany perfume.

Thank you Aven for answering our questions.

About the author

Aven Ellis has been writing fiction since she was sixteen. She studied communications at a large Midwestern university, and after graduation, Aven worked as a reporter for a community newspaper, followed by a stint at a public relations agency.

But writing about city council meetings and restaurant franchises was not as much fun as writing for young women trying to figure out their careers and potential boyfriends. So Aven got herself a job in television that allowed her to write at night. Connectivity is Aven’s debut novel; Waiting For Prince Harry and Chronicles of a Lincoln Park Fashionista (New Adult romantic comedy) and Surviving the Rachel were published last year. Her next book is published in May.

Aven lives in Dallas with her family. When she is not writing, Aven enjoys shopping, cooking, connecting with friends on social media, and watching any show that features Gordon Ramsay.
