About one year ago I went to Paris for 5 days with my mum. We do a city
trip every year, just the two of us, last year it was Paris.
From Switzerland it’s easiest to travel by train, it took is 4 hours and
we arrived at 2 pm. After checking in at the hotel we went to explore the area.
Our hotel was close to Notre Dame, so we went to see the church and then we
spent the day in the little quartiers. We saw the Sorbonne (Uni), Le Jardin de
Louxembourg and we went a little shopping. Then unfortunately it started
raining and we went to eat crepès.
On the second day we did the big sightseeing tour on a bus. The weather
wasn’t too good, but at least it didn’t rain. It was freezing cold for April
though and all the fountains were empty, that was a pity. On the tour we got
some ear plugs to listen to some information. Our first stop took us to La
Place de la Concorde, so beautiful, I have to tell you J. Then we went
on tot he Champs d’ Elysée. Our bus had to wait
for a long time and they played
the same song over and over again while waiting: Champs d’Elysée. I’m telling
you, I really had enough of this song after that! On this famous street we went
shopping first, then had a delicious lunch and walked up tot he Arc de
Triomphe. After taking some pictures there, we took our tour bus again, which
took us the the Eiffel Tour, finally!!! We didn’t go up, because there were so
many people, so we just took some pictures and enjoyed the tour. The tour took
us to the Hotel
des Invalides, the Opera and The Louvre.
The
evening we met a friend of mine, who was doing her Erasmus in Paris at the
time. I met her in Vancouver when I was studying there, she’s Italian.
The
next day we went to see the Tingely and Nici de Saint Phalle fointain and we
tokk the tour bus again. It took us up to the Opera, the Moulin Rouge and the
Sacre Coeur. The view up there is breath-taking. I had a funny meeting with a
pigeon. Let’s just say it landed on my shoulder ;) ANd it was not the first
time, it’s always me they’re after. I don’t like these animals, you could say I
have a pigeon phobia.
After
that it was time for shopping. We went tot he Galerie Lafayette and then had
dinner in LaDurée, love that restaurant, especially the omletts.
The
following day we explored the area called Le Marais, with cute little shops and
parcs. In the evening we went to see a Stephen Sondheim musical, that was
amazing!!! Like on the West End.
Then
it was Sunday and our last day already L. It was the first sunny
day and it was finally warm outside. Paris look so different!
We
spent the whole day outside of course. We walked tot he Louvre, took some
pictures there and went on to the Jardin des Tuilersies. It’s so beautiful
there. We just sat there and enjoyed the sun. Then we looked for a restaurant
and had lunch in the park. It was so lovely.
Unfortunately,
it was time to say goodbye to this amazing city after that.
I
definitely want to go back to Paris. There is so much to see in this city, five
days were just not enough. Anyone wanna join me?

I just heard a story on NPR USA about the Love Locks in Paris. They certainly look tres charmant--too bad they are too heavy for the railings. I love the oversized lips in the water. Where was that taken? Many lovely photos--thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks lovely :) The photo with the oversized lips was taken at the Niki de Saint Phalle and Jean Tinguely fountain just next to the Centre Pompidou. x
