My own copy

The blurb:

Meet Bridget, a successful travel journalist with ambitions to turn her quirky relationship blog into a novel. But, after numerous rejections from publishers, she accepts an alternative proposition: Nicole Dupre died leaving behind a bestselling novel and an incomplete sequel, and the family need someone to finish it. Bridget is just thankful to have her foot in the publishing door. But as she gets to know Nicole’s grieving family, and the woman behind the writing, Bridget’s priorities begin to change …

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

Whenever I start a Paige Toon book, I feel at home in the world she created immediately. It’s like diving into the sea and depth of this story.

Bridget is the main character of this book and I couldn’t be more excited about that! Knowing her from previous Paige Toon books and always having enjoyed her appearances, made me really excited to finally read her own story. Another fab thing about her: she is a writer! She has a relationship blog and wants to turn it into a novel. To achieve that she has to ask back the pieces of her heart from previous boyfriend. At the beginning of the book she lives in Australia and is happy with Elliott. Her publisher has another offer for her though: being a ghost-writer for the sequel of Nicole Dupré, who sadly died. Nicole’s family need someone to finish the sequel. This journey leads Bridget to Cornwall, where she meets Charlie and his daughter April.

Charlie is of course grieving his wife and is struggling to look after his daughter and having to work as well. They have a bit of rocky start, but Bridget warms to April fast and gets to know Charlie as well. She does a lot of research and finds out a lot about Nicole’s past. Of course everything is also connected to Charlie and Nicole’s books.

Then there is still her idea of her relationship book in her mind and her boyfriend in Australia, but priorities seem to change.

I really enjoyed reading about Cornwall and I just loved Charlie, Bridget and April together. I kind of felt a spark there from the beginning. The relationship between Charlie and Bridget developed slowly, that is something you can say about the pace of the story in general. This fact surprised me a little bit, but it made sense considering what happened at the beginning of the book. To be honest: I just wanted Charlie and Bridget to be together, so I was hoping for something to happen between them.

Bridget goes through a lot in this book and learns what she really wants. It fascinating flowing her story. We got to meet new as well as old characters and Paige’s writing just captured everything so beautifully.

I absolutely adore the world she always creates around her characters. The are also somehow connected to each other and if you have read her previous books, it’s just fabulous to read about certain characters again. The atmosphere and ambiance in this book was not to beat, that’s probably also why she is still one of my fave authors.

I couldn’t put this book down! There is enough drama included, some wonderful and beautiful scenes, a fab setting and so much more. I also think the title of this book is brilliant!!!
