It Felt Like A Kiss - by Sarra Manning

Original Cover
My own copy
The blurb:

Meet Ellie Cohen, one of the most perfect girls in London.

Ellie manages a swank Mayfair gallery, but it’s her life that’s a real work of art. Great job, really good hair, loyal friends, loving family. It’s only her succession of lame duck boyfriends that ruin the picture.

Oh, and the world-famous rock-star father she’s never met, who won’t even acknowledge her existence.

Then Ellie’s perfect life is smashed to pieces when her secret is sold to the highest bidder and her name, face (and pictures of her bottom) are splashed across the tabloids. Suddenly everyone thinks she’s a gold-digging, sex-crazy, famewhore.

Enter David Gold. Charming and handsome David Gold. On paper he’s even more perfect than Ellie, if only he wasn’t her father’s ruthlessly ambitious lawyer whose job is to manage the crisis – and her. He certainly doesn’t think that Ellie’s the innocent party and she doesn’t trust him at all. So why is it that every time they’re alone together, damage limitation is the last thing on their minds?

My Opinion:

The cover is beautiful, catchy, romantic… And London in the background . It was love at first sight ;)

Ellie is a normal “London” girl, working hard to get a career. She’s gorgeous, has great friends and family to support her. Her luck with men however is non existent. She always seems to find the wrong ones. Then there is her world famous father Billy Kay, a rock star! He’s not part of her life, not yet…
I liked Ellie right away, I found it hard to relate to her at times, but then I got her again, that felt really weird, but after a while I started to understand her better and better.

Her life comes crashing down, when a lame ex-boyfriends sells her story to the press. She suddenly has to deal with the media and her whole past is revealed.

David Gold, her dad’s lawyer comes to deal with it all and help Ellie. The first time they meet was magical (at a festival), but when she meets him again as a lawyer, he seems totally different, almost like he’s not the same person anymore. It made him mysterious and somehow also dangerous, because we didn’t know whether Ellie could trust him.
In between the lines their spark was still there, but both of them sent that as far away as possible. It made me really curious on how their relationship would develop, because there had something to come, I was sure.
It was difficult to read him and get his emotions, but that was also gripping in a way, because the future and the ending were still open.

There were a lot of twists and turns in this story, which is awesome. They keep you guessing on what’s going to happen next…

Next to Ellie’s story we were always able to read about the past, which means about the story of Ari (Ellie’s mum) and Billy. These scenes came in between, were a pleasant change and brought light into the past, which was great.

Both Ellie and David were very stubborn and that made them being to together even more complicated. I have to say some times I have a little annoyed about their behaviour towards each other. We were kept in the dark about their future till the very end. There were seesaw changes all the time. I got understand and like David more and more and the ending was adorable.
The question was: What does love mean to both of them?

Great and sparkly story with a lot of drama and spark!!!
