Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn - by Tilly Tennant

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

There’s only one man for Bonnie, and that’s Holden Finn.

The problem is that Holden Finn is a twenty-three-year-old pop megastar with his boy band, Every Which Way, and has no idea she exists. Not only that, but half the women in the world want to be Mrs Finn, including Bonnie’s teenage daughter, Paige. The real men in Bonnie’s life do nothing but let her down, but a man you can’t possibly have can never do that… right? She’s safe inside her fantasy bubble.

Then Paige wins a radio competition to meet Holden and the band, and Bonnie’s carefully-constructed world starts to unravel. She is about to find out that you should be very, very careful what you wish for …

My Opinion:

*Book provided by author in exchange for an honest review*

Such a quick and enjoyable read, I absolutely adored it!!! When I read it I didn't know yet, how the cover would look like and when I saw it I fell in love with it. So beautiful.

The storyline for once is totally different from the ones I’m used from the chick-lit books.
The fact that 35 year old Bonnie is a huge fan Holden Finn (23 years old, musician) and really fancies him, took me into the story completely.

Bonnie has a 15 year old daughter, her name is Paige and she can be difficult sometimes, but I loved the relationship mother and daughter had in this book.

Paige and her friend Annabell are huge fans of Holden’s band and when they win a competition to meet them, Bonnie can’t believe her luck. She gets to meet Holden Finn!!!

The whole meeting and what follows doesn’t turn out as expected and Bonnie has a total different opinion of Holden now.
Then there is Max, the gorgeous deliveryman who seems to be into her. And what about Paige’s dad? When Henri returns the real drama begins, what lots of ups and downs you can enjoy. There was never a dull moment in this book and some great surprises as well.

I got a bit angry with Bonnie’s behaviour towards the end, with the decisions she was making, so that’s why I can only give 4 cups of coffee.

All in all, the story was vivid and fascinating. It did seem a bit too unreal from time to time. Nevertheless, it’s a must read and I’m so glad a got the opportunity to read it.
A funny, gripping and exciting novel.

Q&A with Jessie Jefferson

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Today is a very special day, a lot of great books by brilliant authors are published, I can't wait to read them. This Q&A is a little different from what you're used to on my blog, but I wanted to have something special for you on the release day of Paige Toon's first YA book The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson. So I asked Paige, if she would answer me questions from a character's point of view, our heroine Jessie Jefferson in her newest book and the lovely Paige agreed. Thank you so much again Paige, always a pleasure xxx.
Interview
1. Tell us a little something about yourself.
If you'd asked me this question a year ago, I would have said I'm a pretty ordinary 15-year-old girl with a best friend called Libby, a stepdad called Stu, and a mum who likes to nick my nail polish and wear my clothes. Now my mum is gone and everything has changed.
2. So, Johnny Jefferson is your dad, how does that feel?
Totally surreal. I still can't get my head around it. The real person is different to the one you see in the tabloids.
3. What are your hobbies?
I like writing and singing, but not many people know this. Most people have to get me really drunk to get me to do karaoke, but I kick ass on PlayStation Singstar, even if I do say so myself
4. What was it like to meet your real dad?
Again, totally surreal. I was so nervous, I can't even tell you.
5. How do you see yourself in 10 years?
Blimey! I can't even tell you how I see myself in two months! By then, I guess everyone will know I'm Johnny's daughter. That thought is both scary and exhilarating.
6. What do you think about Meg and the two little boys?
My little brothers! I can't believe I have siblings. I thought I was an only child. They're so cute! I like Meg, but sometimes I'm not sure how she feels about me...
7. Describe yourself in three words.
Blonde, feisty, rebellious.
8. How did Johnny react, when he first saw you?
I think he was a little freaked out when I took my sunglasses off and he could see my face and eyes properly. I look weirdly like him.
9. What’s your favourite song?
Jump Into The Fog by The Wombats. But I guess I should be saying anything by Johnny Jefferson... I also REALLY love some of the stuff by this hot new band called All Hype. You'll hear more about them soon!
10. Are you glad you got to know your dad and his family?
More than you could ever know.

Remember Me? - by Sophie Kinsella

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

Lexi wakes up in a hospital bed after a car accident, thinking it’s 2004 and she’s a twenty-five-year old with crooked teeth and a disastrous love life. But, to her disbelief, she learns it’s actually 2007 – she’s twenty-eight, her teeth are straight, she’s the boss of her department – and she’s married! To a good-looking millionaire! How on earth did she land the dream life??!

She can’t believe her luck – especially when she sees her stunning new home. She’s sure she’ll have a fantastic marriage once she gets to know her husband again. He’s drawn up a ‘manual of our marriage’, which should help.

But as she learns more about her new self, chinks start to appear in the perfect life. All her old colleagues hate her. A rival is after her job. Then a dishevelled, sexy guy turns up… and lands a new bombshell.

What the **** happened to her? Will she ever remember? And what will happen if she does?

My Opinion:

What would you do if you forgot about the last three years of your life and everything has changed?

Well, this is exactly what happened to Lexi. She had a car accident in her Mercedes. BUT, she can’t not even drive and above all she can’t afford a car like that. She thinks it is 2004, but it’s 2007. She’s got amnesia.
She hast he most drop-dead gorgeous husband and a great job. She goes back to this life, without remembering anything. She tries to enjoy every single moment, but doesn’t remember anything. Such a weird situation, but it was a pleasure accompanying Lexi on her journey back to life and finding out more about the person she now is.

And it gets even more complicated: There is a guy, apparently one of Eric’ (her husband) colleagues, who tells her that they are having an affair. She doesn’t know what to think. Sophie found a great way to let us know how Lexi feels, I really liked the writing.

And there is work. Her colleagues hate her and she is a mean boss.
Moreover, there is no spark and no attraction between her and Eric.

Then there is this melody and ...

... a memory. Just a small one, but it doesn’t matter. The memory is about Jon, her affair.
Not telling you more here… ;)

A gripping story with an okay end. For me there was no real end and we know where she is going in the end, but I missed this last spark and the information there. We don’t even hear what happens with the other guy, Lexi isn’t chosing.
In the story Lexi has that a perfect life with money and success and it turns out it isn’t always a happy life, beautiful message. The novel is so lively and hilarious. :)
