Strawberries at Wimbledon – by Nikki Moore

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

The fifth short story in the fun & flirty #LoveLondon series from exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore!

The one that got away?

Sipping Pimms and eating fresh strawberries at Wimbledon are the perfect start to the British summer for Rayne. Immersed in her career as a journalist in the City, she's been too busy and distracted to give men – or other outside interests – much of a chance lately. That's something her friend Lily thinks she should correct, coming up with the perfect ‘sex with an ex’ solution – much to the amusement of the crowd on Centre Court!

When Rayne runs into old flame Adam, former good guy who is now all grown up with a hint of bad boy about him, it's a tempting thought. But is that such a good idea, when she knows that four years ago, she broke his heart?

Back from travelling the world and settling into running the family business, Adam never expected to see his university girlfriend again. And he definitely didn't think he would still be angry with her for running away, or that she would still have the same stunning effect on him. But she does, so maybe the perfect way to get her out of his dreams and from under his skin, is to have a hot sex-filled night with her? The only trouble is, one night might not be enough…

First love – can you ever go back?

My Opinion:

Here we go again! Nikki Moore’s #LoveLondon series is full of sparkly and fun stories and I was especially excited about this one, because of this awesome title!!!

Rayne and her best friend Lily are in Wimbledon enjoying Henman Hill before heading to Centre Court to see a tennis match. Sitting there before the start, talking about her non existing love life, she gets surprised by her ex-boyfriend Adam. Of course he has heard everything…

After the match they have time to catch up. The next day he scores her some interviews with players, which is great for her job. They also have time to catch up more. What I really liked between them was their chemistry, passion and energy.

In between there were several flashbacks, where we learn how Adam and Rayne got to know each other at uni and how their relationship progressed/ended. The both have a lot of emotional baggage and also after they meet again, they have to talk about what happened and they get to know each other in a new way. Nikki really has a talented to make the characters’ stories deep and authentic.

Rayne is a great character! She is strong, independent and bubbly! And Adam, do you really want me to get started on him?! That could take a while ;) He’s awesome! I loved his passion and energy.

Their old feelings definitely come up and it’s on them to decide what they really want in life.

Lily, Rayne’s friend, had her little own story going on as well, which was great!

I just adored that this whole story or let’s say the beginning was set at Wimbledon. I love tennis and it’s a big dream to see a match there life once.

Nikki always manages to put a huge smile on my face with her stories. Her writing has it all – depth, emotions, fun, freshness and sweetness!! Strawberries at Wimbledon is FABULOUS, my fave out of the #LoveLondon stories, I can’t wait for the final one with all the stories in one to come out!!!
