The blurb:
The first short story in the fun & flirty
#LoveLondon series from exciting new chick lit author Nikki Moore!
There’s nothing Holly Winterlake loves more than
Christmas and skating, so working as an Ice Marshall at London's Somerset House
is a dream come true.
Noel Summerford hates the festive season and is a
disaster on the ice, so taking his godson to Somerset House is his idea of the
nightmare before Christmas!
Things are bound to get interesting when these
two collide…
With a forty foot Christmas tree, an assortment
of well meaning friends and relatives, and a mad chocolate Labrador, will this
festive season be one to remember … or forget?

Skating at Somerset House is the
first short story in the new #LoveLondon series by author Nikki Moore. I have
been really excited about this series, because I love Nikki’s writing style,
the blurb sounded great and all the covers of this series are just so gorgeous.
The two main characters couldn’t be
more different. Holly Winterlake loves Christmas and skating. As a former
figure skating pro she works at Somerset House and she just adores everything
connected to this wonderful and festive time of the year. She’d prefer to have
Christmas every month, instead of this dreadful heat in summer.
Noel Summerford ist he total
opposite. He hates Christmas and skating, oh well let’s just say he doesn’t
make a good figure on skates. He prefers summer tot he cold.
I love how Nikki played around with
their names and gave them a special meaning. Holly and Noel are such a jo to
read about. Holly with her passion for Christmas and the way she talkst o
little Jasper, Noel’s godson is so sweet. Noel comes across grumpy and moody,
but that changes throught this story and he turns out tob e this wonderful man.
I have to say I fell in love with him a little bit. I could literally see the
sparks flying between them, they had something from the beginning. They way
they made each other feel, there was always a warmth and spark between them. I
enjoyed reading about how their relationship developed. Especially towards the
end, where Holly is reminded of her past and they both end up at her place. The
last scenes were perfectly romantic, touching and very emotional, I loved that.
We learn a lot about their past,
why they are they way they are and that made me understand both characters
really well. Nikki has them perfectly lined out and describes everything with
such detail. I fell in love with her writing all over again. There ist he right
amount of flirtyness and fun in it and I was totally absorbed with the story
and the characters, this really shows: Reading is dreaming with open eyes.
Jasper added an extra something to
this story, I love him. This short story ist he perfect festive and feel-good
read, it gets you into the christmassy atmosphere right away. It has put a huge
smile on my face and I can’t wait for the story to continue, this is going to
be a fabulous series, I can feel it!
