Destination Thailand (The Lonely Hearts Travel Club #1) – by Katy Colins

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

What if you had a second chance… to find yourself?

Instead of slipping on her something borrowed and tripping up the aisle to wedded bliss, Georgia spends her big day crying into a warm Sex-on-the-Beach, wondering where it all went wrong.

Forced to make a bucket list of her new life goals by best friend Marie, it’s not long before travel-virgin Georgia’s packing her bags for a long-haul adventure to Thailand.

Yet, Georgia’s big adventure doesn’t seem to be going to plan. From strange sights, smells and falling for every rookie traveller scam in the book Georgia has never felt more alone.

But the good thing about falling apart is that you can put yourself back together any way you please. And new Georgia might just be someone she can finally be proud of…

The new favourite series for fans of The Curvy Girls Club, the Shopaholic series and Eat, Pray, Love.
This year it is time to find the place where you truly belong…

My Opinion:

*Book provided by the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

Finally! I was so excited to read this. First of all I’d just like to say that I0’m very proud of Katy and look at this gorgeous cover <3.

The story follows Georgia. We meet her on a beach, crying over her broken engagement It’s ment to be her wedding day, but Alex ended everything a few weeks before… Georgia is a mess and doesn’t know what do do.

Back home her best friend Marie forces her to write a bucket list of things to do. I was very happy Georgia had her best friend. Soon after that Georgia sees herself flying to Thailand. Hello solo traveling…

In the beginning nothing goes according to plan. Some people she meets are weird and Georgia even considers going home. She doesn’t though, the group changes and there are new people to meet. Some of them being fun and great, other turning out to be liars and jerks ;).

It was exciting to follow her around on her adventures. I really enjoyed the exciting journey and Georgia is just an awesome character. The storyline is full of great elements and there are other characters getting their part of the story as well. I’m thrilled that some of them follow her into the new adventure in the next book. I can’t wait!!!

Georgia goes through a personal journey in this book, she changes and is determined to finally do something with her life. I really liked her energy and passion.

Well, of course there were also some guys in this story. Georgia sees some sparks flying. I don’t want to spoil anything here, so that’s al you here ;). There was a certain moment I really liked towards the end of the book and I just hope that continues in book #2 of the series.

I loved all the description of places in Thailand. This book is a wonderful way to get to know a country, the food and the culture without even being there yourself.

Katy’s writing is just awesome! I was hooked immediately, she makes it all seem so close and it’s just fun to turn page after page. She has a fresh, young, unique and mesmerizing style. Her writing is also inspired of her own travels and her past, read this article here to get more info: Jilted bride left at the altar quits her job, sells her house, travels the world and writes a book
