Most of you
probably know that I’m studying to be a primary school teacher, I only have one
more semester ahead and in June 2014, I’ll receive my Bachelor diploma. I’m so
excited already, I’ve spent enough time at Uni now.
Part of the
studies is teaching in internships. In the first year we have 3 weeks to teach
in January and in the 2nd and 3rd year it’s 5 weeks. Actually I’m already in my
4th year at the Uni of Education, because I started with the kindergarten
program. I realised after 3 semesters that I don’t have the patience to teach
the little ones and I missed the languages, so I changed to primary school and
I’m so happy I did. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Well, I’m
teaching a 6th grade now, the children are either 11 or 12 years old. I teach
seven subjects: Maths, German, English, French, Music, Arts and „Human and
Environment“. The last one includes Geography, History, Physics, Chemistry,
Biology etc.
I was a
little nervous the first day, but now I’m really enjoying it. The first three weeks
have been great and I learned so much. Every single day is unique and behind
every small thing there is something to learn. The kids are really nice and we
have a lot of fun. My prof came to see me teach as well and I got a great feedback.
She’ll come back on the 3rd of February for the „diploma lesson“.
That includes 1 hour of teaching and a reflection afterwards, then I get a
grade which counts for the Bachelor, I’m nervous already. I’m preparing the
lesson next week. Wish me luck next that Monday!!! :)
I enjoy
teaching this grad so much and I really feel, that’s also the grade I’ll be
teaching after Uni. One reason for this, is that I’m able to teach both foreign
languages English and French and the pupils are old enough to coordinate their
work and still enjoy it and be a little childish.
When I had
to prepare the lessons I love the themes, but I was a little unsure about the
electricity theme, now I’m loving it and the pupils are too, that’s the most
important thing.
