1. Can you tell us a little about the story of your book The Love List?
Workaholic Nora King eats, sleeps, and breathes the family business and
after the death of her father it’s easier for her
to think that work will protect
her from the numbness of
grief.
Enter sexy, laid-back Ethan Love, a man who understands loss because of
his job as a disaster relief/aid worker. He’s in
town to ask Nora for a very
special favour and soon his
charm and perception is crashing through all of
Nora’s
barriers, dragging her out of her self-imposed state of
suspended
animation, and making her want to put him
on her ‘To Do’ list!
2. What was your inspiration for the book?
When Jared King, the hero in the first Kings of London book (Her Best
Laid Plans), finally admitted to me he’d walked away from his birthright at
twenty-one, I knew his actions had to have impacted on his two sisters, Nora
and Sephy. It’s been so much fun writing about the fallout for them and also
making sure they got their own HEA, too!
I love writing about family dynamics. With Jared, Nora and Sephy I was
inspired by how a life-changing decision made by the eldest ‘responsible’ child
then alters the stereo-typical role of the middle ‘peacemaker’ child Nora and
the youngest ‘rebel’ child Sephy. Look out for Sephy’s story coming very soon!
3. Another story you wrote is called Her Best Laid Plans, what is it about?
Her Best Laid Plans is about Nora’s big brother, the ex bad-boy turned
businessman Jared King who returns to London after ten years to help save the
family business. He brings his best friend’s sister, the very sassy Amanda Gray,
with him to act as his PA (and help him reconnect with his family).
4. Imagine The Love List would be
turned into a movie, who would you cast for the main characters?
Ooh, I love casting my characters. I have to admit I imagined Nora King
looking a lot like actress, Leslie Coutterand and Ethan Love looking a lot like
actor, Chris Hemsworth!
5. How about The
Waiting Game, what is behind that story?
The Waiting Game is a romantic suspense about Cameron Dexter, a security
specialist determined to make up for a terrible mistake on the job, and Brooke
Bennet who ten years before survived a madman who stalked her, kidnapped her
and tattooed her. It’s about scars—both visible and invisible, and the courage
it takes to live with them. I’ve been told I write really good villains, so if
you like your suspense with a side-helping of psychological thriller, then The
Waiting Game is for you.

6. What does Christmas mean to you?
Family.
7. What’s your favourite Christmas memory?
Huge family Christmas dinner for twelve…opening the dining room doors so
that everyone could sit down to the first course and discovering our
neighbour’s dog sitting under the table…finishing off the ham and melon it had
swiped off of everyone’s plates!
8. Do you have a special Christmas tradition?
There’s always one afternoon in the lead up to Christmas where the
perfect romantic Christmas film comes on the TV and I grab the special
Christmas Apron (it‘s red!) and spend a fab afternoon making mince pies with
the TV on in the background.
9. What’s your favourite Christmas song?
Prepare yourself: It’s Ring Out Solstice Bells by Jethro Tull! I love
the...bells! And the flute/recorder! And the melody! And the cheesiness :)
10. What’s your favourite Christmas movie?
Die Hard! What? It’s totally a Christmas movie. It’s set at Christmas
and everything!
11. Who would you want to meet under mistletoe?
My hubby.
12. Your favourite Christmas book?
A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
13. When do you start your Christmas shopping?
We have a strict rule in our house that there’s no Christmas shopping
until after Hubby’s birthday at the end of November. Of course, I may, on
occasion, exchange money for items that I then wrap in Christmas paper, but
this is definitely not classed as
Christmas shopping—it’s more just ‘shopping’!
14. Pick three authors you want to have dinner with and
tell us why.
Ooh, this is a FAB question. Let’s see: Nora Roberts for the romance.
Agatha Christie for the suspense. And J.K. Rowling to lend some Hogwart magic
to the table.
15. Did you always dream of being a writer?
When I was a child I’d write down all my adventures, and when my
adventures didn’t seem appropriately adventurous I would then add in lots of
drama, suspense and a little ‘saving the world’. And as I got older I wrote
journals, plays, poetry and stories. But I never considered writing for
publication until my thirties, when some sort of planetary-alignment thing must
have occurred, because, suddenly I was thinking—why not?!
16. What do you enjoy most about writing?
It’s incredibly rewarding to be able bring to life the characters that
are in your head and share their journey with readers.
17. Christmas Eve vs Christmas Day?
I love both, although Christmas Eve invariably means running around
finishing the cleaning I promised myself I was going to finish the day before.
And there’s always the 1am slot on Christmas morning where the Christmas Eve
alcohol I’ve consumed helps my maths no-end as I suddenly remember to do a list
of timings for Christmas lunch.
18. Favourite
things to eat at Christmas?
Canapés/Party Food! I like to think of them as their own food group!
19. Your
favourite Christmas gift?
Books, books, books, books. It’s just not Christmas if I don’t get to
give books as presents or unwrap books that have been given to me.

My name’s Eve Devon and I write
sexy heroes, sassy heroines and happy ever afters..!
I kind of secretly believe it’s
not too late for me to train as a professional dancer, MMA expert, or win an
Oscar. I know! This is why writing fiction is for me!
Growing up in
locations like Botswana and Venezuela gave me quite the taste for adventure and
my love for romances began when my mother shoved one into my hands in a
desperate attempt to keep me quiet during TV coverage of the Wimbledon tennis
finals!
When I wasn’t
consuming books by the bucketload, I could be found pretending to be a damsel
in distress or running around solving mysteries and writing down my adventures.
As a teenager, I wrote countless episodes of TV detective dramas so the hero
and heroine would end up together every week. As an adult, I worked in a
library to conveniently continue consuming books by the bucketload, until
realising I was destined to write contemporary romance and romantic suspense
myself. I live in leafy Surrey in the UK, a book-devouring, slightly
melodramatic, romance-writing sassy heroine with my very own sexy hero husband!
