Baby Be Mine - by Paige Toon

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

'He's not mine, is he?'
That's the question I fear the most.

You see, I have a secret. My son is not fathered by my boyfriend, but by one of the most famous rock stars that ever lived. And he doesn't even know it.

One-time celebrity personal assistant to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg Stiles is now settled and living in the south of France with her doting boyfriend Christian and their son Barney. But they're living a lie - a lie that will turn their lives upside down and inside out - because as Barney reaches his first birthday, Meg can no longer deny that her son is growing to look more and more like his rock star father every day, and less and less like Christian, and sooner or later, the world is going to realise...

How much longer can she keep her devastating secret from him, from their friends and family, from Barney? How much longer before the whole world realises that the father of her child is none other than Johnny Jefferson, wild boy of rock, constantly in the headlines, constantly in Meg’s thoughts?

My Opinion:

As soon as I finished Johnny be Good I had to start reading Baby be Mine. I couldn’t wait to find out about Meg, Christian, Johnny and BARNEY ...

Meg and Christian now live in the south of France in a beautiful house, with a pool and everything. However, there is one tiny little secret only Meg knows. Barney her one year old son isn’t Christian’s, NO, he’s Johnny’s son. Johnny Jefferson, famous and sexy rockstar and Christan’s best mate.
Meg loves Christian, but she is really scared that he is going to find out! Barney has got Johnny’s pearcing green eyes and looks like Johnny when he was a child. Even Meg’s best friend realises that, when she sees a picture of young Johnny in a magazine. BUT, Christian can not see it.

When Christian’s mum dies, Meg and Christian go back to England and who turns up? YES, Johnny of course. The atmosphere between the three of them is really akward. Christian knows what happend between Meg and Johnny, but he doesn’t know about this one night. When Meg is about to leave, Johnny sees a pictures of Barney. As soon as he looks at Meg afterwards, he knows!!!

Back in France Meg decides that she has to tell Christian the truth. Before she can do that, Johnny turns up and wants to see hiss on. She begs him to give her the time to tell Chrstian and he agrees.
Then the moment comes, Christian is back and she tells him. He is devasteted and cannot believe it!!! Meg loves him, but accepts his decision for them to leave. It is really hard for her.
She moves in with her parents and Johnny sometimes comes to see them. Then he wants them to come back to LA with him. Oh WOW!!! Meg doesn’t know what to  do, but then it is decided and she is back in Johnnys huge house. There she meets Johnny’s current girlfriend Dana and she DOESN'T LIKE her ;)
Johnny seems nice and caring at one time and wasted at another time. She meets another actor, Joseph Strike (it was so funny to read about him, after One Perfect Summer ;)). Johnny suddenly acts jealously, but no, that can’t be true. Meg realises that she still likes Johnny, but she also knows that he is not going to change.
After Johnny’s throwing a party at his house, with Barney aspleep in one of the rooms, she has enough and wants to leave. Moreover, everything about Barney and that Johnny is his father comes out in the press and media. Johnny tries to convince her to stay, but has no success...

She returns to England, after a couple of months, Christian returns back into her life, but just as a friend ;).
In the first few months Johnny is not in contact with them, but then suddenly out of nowhere he stands on the doorstep and Barney is on Christian’s shoulders. After Christians leaves (not without talking to Johnny), Johnny reveals that Dana and him have split up. Meg and Johnny get along really well and they get closer to eachother again.
After about two months he invites them to a Racing Event and that’s where everything changes ...
That’s also where they bump into Paola again, and she’s with Luis Castro, the F1 driver ;) It just say CHASING DAISY (to bad I haven’t read that book yet).

Baby be Mine is a great summer read, it’s funny, gripping, romantic and addicting!!! A MUST READ!!!

Johnny be Good - by Paige Toon

Original Cover
My own copy

The blurb:

If your boss was the hottest rock star on the planet, would you mix business with pleasure?

I’m Meg Stiles. This is my leaving party. And that song we’re making a mockery of? That’s written by one of the biggest rock stars in the world. And I’m moving in with him tomorrow.

Seriously! I am not even joking.

Well, maybe I’m misleading you a little bit. You see, I haven’t actually met him yet...

No, I’m not a stalker. I’m his new PA. His Personal Assistant. And I am off to La-La Land. Los Angeles. The City of Angels – whatever you want to call it – and I can’t bloody believe it!

Celebrity PA to wild boy of rock Johnny Jefferson, Meg’s glam new life in sun-drenched LA is a whirlwind of showbiz parties and backstage passes. Cool, calm Christian, in town to write his famous friend’s biography, helps keep Meg’s feet firmly on the ground. But with Johnny’s piercing green eyes and a body Brad Pitt would kill for, how long will it be before she’s swept right off them again?

My Opinion:

Johnny be Good was the second Paige Toon book I bought and started to read. The order might be a bit weird and not ideal, but as long as I am okay with it ;).

Meg is thrown into a totally different life in LA with Johnny Jefferson, the rock star, as her boss. Everything around her is so glamorous and big, parties here, gigs there...

She develops a crush on Johnny and can’t get him out of her head anymore. Johnny is just enjoying his life, being with his „girlfriend“ Serengeti and that doesn’t make it easier for Meg.
Johnnys’s best mate Christian comes to see him and the two of them get along very well.
Meg doesn’t talk about her feelings to anyone, not her best friend Bess in England, not Kitty her PA colleague, not Rosa the cook. However, Rosa realises that Meg might have feelings for him.

When Johnny needs a short break, they are off to Big Sur and that’s when Meg finally sees another side of him. Unfortunately, this doesn’t last long. He is the same old rock star back in LA. When she goes on tour with him, everything gets worse and Johnny is a real mess. Meg wants to help him so badly and she takes him away from all the stress, the drugs, the alcohol and the parties.
That’s when finally the two oft hem get closer and follow their feelings. Johnny being Johnny wants to go back to LA after that and ignores what happened between them. Sometimes you can, however see his jealousy. Meg knows that he is not good for her, but there’s always a little hope, isn’t there? Meg is confused, she is close to him one minute, and the other minute he is cold and ignorant. She can’t bear with it anymore and goes back to England.

Christian comes back into her life there, they move in together and after a while they become more than friends. However, Johnny is still in her mind and he even comes to visit her/them and wants her to be with him. She can’t stop her feelings for one last time, but then he is gone...
Christian is still there ...

The book was a wonderful read. I couldn’t put it down, because I got so hooked. I could really dive into the story and feel Meg’s emotions. I was so happy to see that there is a sequel to the story: Baby be Mine.

That will also be my next review... ;)
